Word Goal & Sprint Tracker
Set a word goal and deadline and see the words you need each day. Run timed writing sprints, keep a streak and a 30-day chart. Free, saved in your browser.
How it works
- Pick a preset (such as November 50,000 words) or type your own word goal, start date and deadline.
- Each writing day, add the words you wrote, or run a sprint timer and log the words when it ends.
- Watch the daily words needed, your streak and the 30-day chart. Everything is saved in this browser.
Questions
How is the daily word count worked out?
It takes the words left at the start of today and divides them by the writing days left, counting today and the deadline day. For 50,000 words in 30 days that is 1,667 words a day. Words you log today count against today's target without changing it.
Do I need an account?
No. Your goal, daily log, sprints and streak are saved in this browser's local storage on this device. Nothing is sent to our server. Download a backup file if you want to move to another browser or device.
Is this the NaNoWriMo tracker?
No. This is an independent tool. The November preset follows the 50,000-words-in-November challenge popularized by National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). The NaNoWriMo nonprofit announced in 2025 that it was shutting down, so this tracker is not connected to it.
What counts toward my streak?
Any day with at least one word logged. The streak stays alive until the end of today, so an empty morning does not reset it. Your longest streak is kept too.
How do sprints work?
Pick a length (10, 15, 25 or 30 minutes, or your own), press start and write. When the timer ends, type the words you wrote and they are added to today's total. The tool shows your words per minute for each sprint.
I already have part of a draft. Can I count it?
Yes. Enter it as words already written. It counts toward the goal but not toward any day's log or your streak.
